Shipping fee

This guide will help you set up shipping fees for your BettaMax store, including a store-wide fee and country-specific fees. It takes about 5 minutes.

Before we begin:

  • You already have a BettaMax account and are logged in.
  • You have identified your target markets (e.g., US, UK, CA) and the shipping rates you want to apply to each market.

How do shipping fees work on BettaMax? #

BettaMax charges shipping fees per item in the order, not based on the total order value. You can set this up in two ways depending on how much control you need.

Each installation method uses two main fee fields:

For first item
Shipping fees apply to the first item in the order. This is usually the basic fee, covering initial processing and shipping costs.
For each additional item
An additional fee is charged for each subsequent item in the same order (from the second item onwards). This is usually set lower than the “For first item” fee because the basic packaging and shipping costs are already included in the first item.
Note: The ” For each additional item” field indicates the extra charge for each additional item in the same order. It’s usually set lower than ” For first item” to encourage customers to purchase more items at once.

BettaMax offers two ways to set up shipping fees:

  • Store-wide flat fee: A single fee applies to all orders, regardless of the shipping country. Suitable for beginners or those selling to only one market.
  • Shipping Zone Fees: Separate fees for each country or group of countries. Suitable when you sell to multiple markets with varying shipping costs.
Suggestion: If you sell to multiple markets (US, UK, CA), you should create separate shipping zones for each country instead of using a single fee. This allows you to control costs more accurately and adjust them flexibly to each market.

Method 1: Set a single shipping fee for the entire store. #

The flat shipping fee is the default rate applied to the entire order when no Shipping Zone is configured for that country. Follow these steps to set it up.

  1. Log in to your BettaMax account at admin.bettamax.com/login .
  2. Go to Settings > Shipping .
  3. Click the pen icon (edit) next to the default shipping fee.
  4. Enter the fee amount in the two fields:
    • For first item: Enter the shipping fee for the first product.
    • For each additional item: Enter the additional fee for each subsequent product.

     

  5. Press Save to save.
Warning: If you do not set a Shipping Zone for a specific country, the system will automatically apply the default shipping fee for that country. Please double-check this setting before launching sales to avoid incorrectly charging customers for shipping.

Method 2: Set shipping fees by region #

Shipping Zones allow you to set individual fees for each country or group of countries. Each zone operates independently and will override the default general fee when customers order from a country within that zone.

Before proceeding, please review the descriptions of the fields in the new zone add form:

  • Zone name: An identifier for this shipping area. Use clear, market-specific names for easier management, for example: “US Standard”, “UK Express”, “Canada Flat Rate”.
  • Shipping countries: Select one or more countries that apply the fees of this zone. A country can only be in one zone at a time.
  • For the first item: Shipping fee applies only to the first item in the order, specifically for this zone.
  • For each additional item: An additional fee will be charged for each subsequent item in the same order, applicable only to this zone.
Suggestion: Name your zones clearly according to the market, for example, “US Standard”, “UK Express”. As the number of zones increases, clear zone names will help you manage and edit them more quickly.

Follow these steps to add a new Shipping Zone:

  1. Go to Settings > Shipping .
  2. Click Add Shipping Zone .
  3. Enter the Zone name , for example: “United States” or “US Standard”.
  4. Select the applicable country in the Shipping countries field .
  5. Enter the fee in the two fields: For first item and For each additional item .
  6. Press Save to save the new zone.
Note: Press Save immediately after each change. BettaMax does not automatically save when you leave the Shipping screen .
