This guide helps you set up the basic SEO elements for your BettaMax store: meta title, meta description, URL slug, and alt text for images. Proper configuration helps your store and products appear on Google when customers search.
Optimizing SEO for the store page (Homepage) #
The meta title and meta description of your homepage are the information displayed in Google search results when someone finds your store. This is the first impression before they visit your page.
- From the left-hand menu bar, select My Store > Theme .
- Click Customize to open the Page Builder.
- In Page Builder, find the SEO or Store SEO option in the left-hand menu.
- Fill in the following fields:
- Meta Title — The title that appears in browser tabs and Google search results. Limit to 50 to 60 characters. Place your main keyword at the beginning of the title.
- Meta Description — A short description that appears below the title on Google. Limited to 150 to 160 characters. Should include a clear call to action.
- Press Save to save.

Optimize SEO for each product page. #
Each product has its own meta title and meta description. Optimizing each product helps it appear when customers search for the product name or directly related keywords.
- From the sidebar, select My Product .
- Click on the product that needs SEO optimization.
- Scroll down to the Search Engine Optimization or SEO section on the product editing page.
- Fill in the fields:
- Meta Title — Product name with secondary keywords. Example:
Wireless Earbuds with Noise Cancellation — Free Shipping. - Meta Description — Describes the main benefit of the product, including natural keywords. End with a short CTA such as
Shop noworFree shipping on orders over $X. - URL Slug — The URL of the product page. Use lowercase letters, written without spaces or hyphens, and no accents. Example:
wireless-earbuds-noise-cancellation.
- Meta Title — Product name with secondary keywords. Example:
- Click Save to save the changes to the product.
Add alt text to product images. #
Alt text is a text description for images, helping Google understand the image content and display products on Google Images. It’s also a crucial factor for a store’s accessibility.
- In the product editing page, scroll up to the Media or Images section .
- Click on the image you want to add alt text to.
- Enter a description in the Alt Text field . The description should be brief and contain keywords related to the product. For example:

Optimizing SEO for the Collection page #
The Collection page (product collection) also needs to be SEO optimized so that it appears when customers search by category, for example, “phone cases for iPhone 15” or “wireless earbuds under $50”.
- From the sidebar, select My Product > Collection .
- Click on the Collection that needs optimizing.
- Scroll down to the SEO section and fill in the Meta Title , Meta Description , and URL Slug in the same way as your product.
- Press Save .

Use this checklist to review before the store officially opens.
- The homepage meta title has been filled in, is under 60 characters, and includes the main keyword.
- Homepage meta description already filled in, 150 to 160 characters, with a call to action (CTA).
- Meta titles and descriptions for the main products have been filled in.
- The URL slugs for the main products should use lowercase letters, no accents, and include keywords.
